Universal Dispatcher™
:
Customized design of 9-1-1 Center workstations providing a full
range of adjustable/user definable features which include
integration of all systems and equipment operated or accessed by the
user.
Total integration of all telecommunications,
computing, visual displays, video and video teleconferencing, and
alarm systems onto computer platforms operating within a multiple
screen, virtual desktop environment.
The Universal Dispatcher™ is the original
9-1-1 Center dispatcher integration platform using computer
telephony and windows. When the system was conceived in 1995 it was
designed on a Macintosh platform. At that time it allowed the
dispatcher to access and control all radios and telephones via a
single computer. It featured three 21" monitors and displayed the
control panels in a windowed environment across three screens. All
systems could be accessed from a single keyboard and mouse. The
first installation of this system occurred in May 1996. We called
this "level 1" integration, it was an exciting step forward.
The casual viewer seeing the Universal
Dispatcher™ for the first time but probably not having had a full
system demonstration might think it is about furniture, screens, and
video cards. The black, low profile console with the slat walls and
adjustable arms featuring four flat panel monitors is very "high
tech" and interesting. Having all the systems control panels
arranged on the screens with sizeable, scaleable, moveable, virtual
windows all controlled by one keyboard and one mouse is also
impressive. We were very proud of this capability back in 1995 when
we first invented it, of course then we didn't have flat panels.
Today the differences are harder to see because from the viewers
perspective that all looks very much like it did then, but the
advancements in the integration are substantial and of great value
to our customers who know and understand the performance
differences.
Today the Universal
Dispatcher™ is still the
technology leader among 9-1-1 Center dispatcher integration
platforms, featuring unlimited integration of system components at
what is regarded as level 3 integration. The Universal Dispatcher™
can be used to integrate radios, phones, CAD, RMS, mapping, video,
alarms, CCTV, AVL, and many more systems from all of the top
companies. All systems are accessed and controlled from a single
keyboard/mouse; all audio can be controlled over a single integrated
headset; and all displays are in sizeable, scaleable, moveable
windows. The level of integration (level 3) allows two way
communications to exist between the integrated systems. The result
is this space and money saving system that reduces dispatcher
response times and potential mistakes while providing valuable
assistance in generating records and reports.
ESi is "vendor independent" and integrates
systems from the leading providers to the Public Safety industry.
The Universal Dispatcher™ is currently being used to manage
day-to-day activities and emergencies by communities across the
U.S., and by agencies like the United States Department of Energy
(DOE) and NASA.
