Systems Integration:
As former emergency managers, we recognize
that without accurate and timely information, talented people,
although armed with detailed plans and procedures, often find
themselves unable to effectively plan, coordinate, or direct an
emergency response.
WebEOC cannot guarantee information collected is accurate, but it
does allow information entered to be viewed real-time. The challenge
is how to make it available to everyone simultaneously.
Data entered into WebEOC is viewed via status boards. Conceptually,
each ‘status board’ is similar to topical status boards hanging in
EOCs throughout the country – except now they are separate windows
viewed on a personal computer (or laptop).
Unfortunately, the cost of providing individual computers to every
emergency responder is often beyond the reach of many communities.
We believe overhead projection systems complement WebEOC and are a
cost effective solution allowing information to be displayed in a
timely manner. Used in conjunction with PCs, this only enhances your
overall response capability.
While computers and display systems alone cannot ensure information
is accurate, the immediacy and global availability of the
information affords viewers the opportunity to recognize and correct
errors or omissions instantly. This is possible because everyone
with access to the status boards, regardless of location, is able to
see information as it is entered. The result is what we refer to as
self-validating information.
The
Information Management Display System is an excellent way to display
WebEOC. Further complementing these capabilities is the integration
of a wide assortment of systems and applications onto common
computer platforms. Quite often closed circuit television (CCTV) and
standard cable television (SCTV), in conjunction with WebEOC,
mapping, and other programs are brought into a WebEOC computer
making the information or media available to everyone. As such,
systems integration makes it easier to monitor and manage emergency
information.
Legacy
System Integration:
As system integrators, ESi is often called
upon to integrate widely disparate systems. We have been doing this
in the Public Safety and Emergency Management arena for years.
Our goal is to eliminate the ‘stove-pipe’ systems that are so
prominent at operator consoles. We have integrated systems in
Emergency Operation Centers, 911 Centers, Power Plants and normal
business offices.
Systems integration can include radio, telephony, CAD, RMS, mapping,
NCIC, video – or any computer application that can run native, or
through an emulator on a Microsoft NT/2000 equipped computer.
We have written custom applications to control electrical relays and
interface with different software packages. We developed APCO’s ERS
(electronic guidecard) software and our CAD/EMD interface is
certified by Medical Priority Dispatch, Inc.
Our engineers can design networks, install and setup hardware,
configure software and if requested, provide maintenance on all
systems. Whatever the need, ESi can evaluate your systems and
provide an integrated solution.
